ECHO Research (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is part of the University of Alberta and is committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Alberta’s Protection of Privacy Act (POPA). This statement explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information through our website, echokt.ca.
2. Authority for Collection
Any personal information collected through this website is collected under the authority of the Post-secondary Learning Act and section 34(1)(a) of the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) for the purposes stated below. It is required for the operation of our programs and services.

We limit the collection of personal information to what is necessary for the purposes of our research and website operations.
- Information Collected Automatically: We automatically log non-identifiable technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited, to help us manage our website and improve our services.

7. Google Analytics
ECHO Research and the University of Alberta use Google Analytics to gather statistics on portions of its website. ECHO Research will use the information gathered to improve digital services for its users.
Google Analytics employs cookies to define user sessions, which allows for the collection of important data about how our patrons are using the site. Google Analytics uses only first-party cookies for data analysis. This means that the cookies are linked to the ualberta.ca website domain(s), and ECHO Research will only use the collected data and cookies for aggregate, including age, gender and possibly interests for non-individual statistical analysis related to your browsing behaviour.
